Rokshox... Please don't think I'm intentionally trying to butt head w/ you... but this thread is a PA thread...so as long as it has relevance to PA, I consider it in bounds. Go check out the MASS Climbers Thread... it sways all over.

What I hate is when climbers go off topic about some inside joke or something... but if its about PA...its in, IMO.

I agree, everything with PA is game for this thread and I am pleased to see that PA people are voicing ideas and opinions. I was just stating what seems to have occurred here. No big deal, everyone should feel free to say what's on their mind, and I don't want to stifle that. It is just that I got some nasty PM's from Jkarns about my starting of the New Climbing Club for PA post and now that we have started this thread he seems to have taken full advantage of it. I only hope that this Thread does not solely become a PAC thread, but remains more of a PA community thread. I am sure I will be jumped on for this, but that has never bothered me before.

Ok so scrolling back a few pages there was a request for climbing adventure tick lists. I think it's exciting to learn where all we have been and I'd love any stories from places I haven't visited yet.

My list is rather modest...still growing.

Central PA (my home grounds)
1. James Buchanan Rock
2. Shaffer Rocks (aka Hermitage)
3. White Rocks
4. Pole Steeple
5. Chickies Rock

West Virginia (so close to home)
1. Seneca Rocks
2. Nelson Rocks
3. Summersville Lake (futal attempts only)

Nevada
1. Red Rocks
2. Zion (saw it from the canyon floor...dieing to climb it)

California
1. Joshua Tree (my fav place to date!)

Places on my list to tackle this season if anyone would like to partner with me...

Maryland
1. Rocks State Park
2. Caderock
3. Annapolis Rock

West Virginia
1. Revisit Seneca and Nelson Rocks

New York
1. Gunks

New Hampshire
1. Franconia Notch
2. Cathedral Ledge
3. Rumney

Until spring I'll be looking for folks who would like to join me skiing and plan out my time for the thaw to hit the road for the cliffs.

Danyelle, NICE LIST. Modest, I think not. Anytime you want to go to Zion let me know, it will always be a special place for me. Living in the canyon for 5 months was an experience like no other. I also have some big goals to achieve at Seneca this spring and summer. Maybe we can get together sometime.

Rwaltermyer: I hope we can climb and play on some common ground this summer. :D

why don't we organize a clean up of our own, why wait for the PAC?

I believe Dontfall mentioned organizing a cleanup of the Emmaus boulder site, near Allentown. I've been there once and definitely agree that the trail could use some clearing and whatnot. As far as I know (and Chris, I know you are reading this, so feel free to clarify) he is in the process of talking to everyone he needs to in order to make sure we don't step on anyone's toes.

K.

I have been in contact with roclimb and jkarns via pm and they have been giving me ideas with the possible cleanup at Emmaus. I have recieved the phone number I need to get ahold of the person who is in charge of Emmaus (thanks to roclimb) and I'll be talking to her and hopefully this cleanup can happen. I have a bunch of Ideas of how Emmaus can be improved with the cleanup and I think the PAC would be a great way to get those ideas worked on. I not only want to get Emmaus cleaned up but would also like to clean as many crags as possible that need to be improved. If anyone would like to talk to me about this more, please pm.

rokshox--

I don't really know what your deal is or why you seem to be against me and the PAC. I've never met you (although I have been at the climbnasium several nights you said you were going). The PAC is work hard right in your backyard. I don't know why you wouldn't embrace the organization. I also don't know why you have to deface my character like that. For the record, I am posting both of the messages that I sent to you for the public to evaluate. I don't think there was anything nasty in them; I really was just looking for honest feedback. I hope we can overcome our differences, and I hope to see you at GS. After all, it is the biggest climbing event in PA!!

Josh

Here's the mesages I wrote to rockshox. I received no direct reply.

Hi--

I noticed you made some negative comments about the PAC in one of your posts. What issues do you have with the organization? We've been going through a lot of restructuring lately, but we're back on track. I'd be very interested in any feedback you have concerning the organization.

cheers

In reply to:
Hello--

I really would appreciate it if you could get back to me on that feedback!

Thanks

I want to end this right now, for the sake of the thread. There were other PM's, but it doesn't matter. I have nothing against you personally or the PAC. Just let it go as will I. We both want the same thing, better PA climbing and a community of PA climbers, we just want to do it in different ways. But I don't see any reason why we can't work together or why there have to be any negative feelings. I will start by apologizing if I offended you in any way. Good Luck with the PAC Jkarns, sincerely and I would be happy to help in any way you need. Sorry to everyone else in this thread for letting personal feelings hijack my own posts. PEACE 8)

Im looking for ice to climb in south central / eastern PA.

Check out Kintnersville. Its the big spot down that way. Or the Narrows north of Harrisburgh for central PA ice.

Rox,

Yeah that would be great. Don't know that Zion is in the horizon soon, since West coast trips take $$ and I'm not swimming in it right now :( But I'd be more than happy to hit WV or any of the other places within a days drive of home.

Danyelle

Send me a PM with any dates you might be free. I'm both a planner and spontaneous so anything goes.

Hey Danyelle,

Have you thought of going down to Oozefest at all in April? It's in WV and there will be a bunch of people there. I'm sure some days people will be heading up to Seneca to hit the rocks there.

I'd love too but early April in WV isn't exactly warm and neither is the host. There is bad blood and I'd just rather not. Thanks for the invitation though and have fun if you get to go.

It might not be 60 out right now...yeah April days are warm but night time lows on avg of 32 degrees don't make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! And that's in town, shave a few more off up on the hilltops.

I think I'll wait until the night temps aren't requiring me to sleep in 3 layers of thermals and my jacket. I have experienced that already in Joshua Tree...some of the coldest nights of my life.

Show me the ICE! I just ordered a pair of tools and my partner has crampons. We were going crazy climbing indoors, so now we won't have to dread the winter. We are officially ready to tackle some ice in the York, Lancaster Harrisburg area. Since we are really rock climbers and don't have any ice pro, we will TR for now. Maybe lead some mixed once we get some exprience. Any suggestions?

This may be a futile effort, but I would like to find some alpine style snow/ice ascents within one hour of York, PA. I realize I won't find anything 5000' or anything like that, but it would be fun to get out on a weekend and get some good exercise and practice alpine skills. Any ideas or suggestions. It seems like there would be some stuff above Harrisburg, west towards Michaux State Forest, and perhaps along the Susquahanna.

Any suggestions for sure hits. Let me know.

Anyone game for some bouldering or TRing in or around Allentown about 2 weeks if the weather allows us? I know of some good spots as listed in the PA's RDB.

Maybe we could get a full day of climbing if possible. We could then go chill at my apartment and order some pizza to end a good day.
