In reply to: Redpointron, last I heard it was going to rain in the Red. Have you heard anything? I have not looked at any weather information yet. sorry that took a couple of minutes. i was checking weather.com. my dial up is slower than me.... slade -- saturday 40% chance of showers with a high of 50. certainly wish i was there today instead. only redeeming thing is it may discourage some from heading out. what are your thoughts? r.r.

I'm going to Clarksville, TN. I am just hoping that the weather passes north of us. Usually if it sprinkles the limestone at king's dries pretty quick.

Hey Redpointron: King's Bluff is probably closer for you than the Red. It is only 1 and a half hours away from Evansville and Bloomington takes me an hour and a half to get there. So that's like 3 hours. I don't know how long it takes you to drive to the Red but for me it is 4 hours. Anyhow, just letting you know this place is really close.

ironing is not a good thing....   i checked it out in the database and in the atlas. down next to ft. campbell. i would say it would be just about the same. hour and a half to louisville, hour and a half to TN, then however long to the crag. i will check it out in the future, but probably not saturday.  check your calendar for those other dates i listed. i am meeting that dude, glen (xcel360) and i'm sure the more the merrier. and then later on in the month the redpoint mama and the redpoint yahoo's are coming down. take 'er easy r.r.

Did you mean Evansville when you said Louisville? a_l , you and that dude burky (from the mentor thread) really put the pedal to the metal. i mean i drive a fire truck for a living and i can't get to evansville in under 2 hours. each time i made the drive for the V.E. comp -- last time was november of 2001 -- it was about 2:15, i think. i guess you shoot down the pennyrile parkway. what are the approaches like (at kings)? traddaddy, are you khack planning on staying at long wall putting up trad lines all day? i was there on monday, did autumn and the bottom of rock wars, and wanted to get on the gift but wasn't feeling so hot. are you heading down on friday? are you planning on clipping any bolts, torrent, maybe? there are some trad lines there, like windy corner? i don't know about their quality, though. r.r.

Probably be down on Friday. Probably staying at Miguel's (in the mud). I don't think khack owns any quickdraws, so the search for dry cracks will be on :!:

So are we planning on meeting saturday morning? Eric i haven't heard from chris in a couple of days. maybe he never left the community when we got bumped back.  you better not party too hard down here during the little 5. i hate running all night long for dumpsters and couches on fire. i got my eye on you and your "crew". keep it mellow. as i said, i will be getting into the red between 10 and 11 on saturday. i would prefer short approaches and many laps, but will entertain all comers. when are you getting down? are you driving by yourself? where do you want to meet? andy, you and i will hit king's sometime soon. i promise. the only thing with the whole washington thing is i got to come back to bloomington to get the wife and kids first. complicates things. i got the draws traddaddy. do you think you guys will be making an alpine start or do you like to sleep in? r.r.

eric... i will p.m. with my cell numbers. you can give me a call when you head out saturday morning--i should be on my way down. that way i won't have to go to miguels at all. time is always short, you know. i would rather climb sport 9, 10, and 11. would love torrent or roadside, but if you guys are going somewhere else let me know. i may have a firefighter buddy with me who used to climb. he's cool--helped me build my wall in my shed. any more updates, i will check rc.com tomorrow from the fire station. a_l, have fun and be safe in TN. r.r.

It's been about 2 years since I've driven myself to Bloomington from Evansville. Usually I make a stop at the parents house about midway so I was deducting that time. I'd say 2 hours and 15 minutes from Bloomington to Evansville is more likely. I drive a beat up Danger Ranger, there is no petal to the metal... two speeds; idle & Go.
