So it's tuesday and there has been no discussion of this weekends venue. Suggestions? I still want to go back to shelf cause last time was such a bust. Picked up a few more colorado springers who want to go. Anyway, just thought I would get the ball rolling. There will be some climbing at the garden wednesday night if anyones interested. Montezuma - Credibility Gap and Crescent Corner are what we've got so far.

Hey everyone, I live in Boulder and am a relatively new climber looking for more people to climb with. I have been taking private lessons from a great instructor for a few months and have also taken some classes at BRC. I climb a solid 5.9 and can do 5.10 onsight about 80% of the time. Except for some outdoor bouldering I have climbed almost exclusively indoors so far. I would love to climb with someone more experienced than me who wouldn't mind giving me some pointers and a safe belay and possibly going outdoors sometime. I do pretty well on vertical walls but am working hard on getting more comfortable on overhangs and starting to lead. So anyone interested in meeting at BRC sometime, I would love to hear from you! I'm absolutely crazy about climbing right now and will pretty much make time to go anytime...thanks!

The Canon City forecast I saw for Saturday looks good -- upper 60's, maybe some high clouds, perfect for Shelf Road's Cactus Cliff. Sunday is supposed to be a little cooler with wind. All together now, **chanting** "Cactus, Cactus, Cactus."

I'm going to try to get out of work a little early tomorrow for some climbing. I'm thinking 'round 3pm, probably something moderate multi-pitch trad - maybe Lover's Leap off Hwy 285... Anyone interested in joining me?

Or "Sorry boys, playing some golf witht the guys from the club." The lure of domesticity is pulling Kyle away with a tremendous force even as I type!! James as well. Quick people we have to mobilize!! Shelf road is the place people. there is a contingent going down on Friday. PM Highabove or Anykineclimb for details. Me I got stuck in a client meeting friday afternoon. Then sunday more will show up. Im guessing cactus cliff will be the spot but I'll post when I know. Forecast is looking good so bring your rain gear, some flairs and a flair gun and a snow shovel.

Just got back from climbing New Era at the GOG and man what a sweet route that is! A three pitch trad climb on real solid rock. I reccomend it to everyone in the group, as a matter of fact the east face of grey rock might be a good spot for the group to hit at some point. A mix of sport and trad ranging from .7 to .12 and there are NO tourists! Im climbing New Era once a week for the next few months it was that cool!

cool route huh...I think I saw you up there, I stopped by the snake pit on the way home today..and split my finger open...(ouch). I left a runner near bob's crack a couple of weeks ago..did you happen to see it up there? The extended work/ski vacation was the best, and now it's back to the daily grind..I'll be around tomorrow evening if anyone wants to meet at the gym or wherever..I have to take off on Saturday and will be back around the 25th or so...rob, I do have your guide book...let me know if you need it tomorrow..

I hiked up to Dream Canyon above Boulder Falls today after work to meet my friend to do some sport routes. Unfortunately, he had to work late, so I was alone. In any case, the wall I went to is called Plotinus Wall and was pretty nice. Dream Canyon is very cool looking. There's an old mining artifact sitting right in the stream bed. Looks like an old steam driven rock crusher for mining. There's a good description of the place here: http://www.climbingboulder.com/...alls_area/index.html

Marketa and I are going to climb on the Flatiron formation known as The Slab on Saturday. I love the vague guide book description. It's about five pitches tall, runout, easy, and perhaps 2000 feet long. We may climb all over it. It's next to the Fern Canyon trail.

In reply to: so are y'all headed to shelf for the whole weekend? Just Saturday for me -- Holly, you up for the commute? timstich -- None other than our very own Bob D. had a heavy hand in developing Plotinus. It's a great wall, well bolted, with lots of 10s and 11s. Further upstream (aka "Upper Dream Canyon", um duh), are also some great routes. Upper Dream Canyon is best accessed by driving up Sugarloaf Road, then hiking down to the crags. Upper also has some 8s and 9s, routes up to 3 pitches, and a few trad lines. And for those with an "alternative" flair, it has long been a haunt for gays and nudists. What really irritates me is that I never see female nudists suntanning -- or whatever -- there. The gals may occasionally enjoy "the show" while climbing, but if I ever drop a carabiner there, I'm kicking it all the way to Eldo before I bend over to pick it up.
