Contrary to what the guide will tell you, Twiss Rock is worth the drive. It has a lot of potential and it's a good place to go a wile away the hours. If anyone is interested in developing the area, Downshift Jarek and I are currently trying are hardest to screw it all up for the rest of you.

What do you mean by "develop"? Sunset Rock has been a popular bouldering mecca since time immemorial. Or at least since the early 70's which is the earliest guidebook edition I have.
I have no clue as to what's hiding out in the woods nearby, though. The developed area the old guidebooks refer to is exclusively Sunset Rock which is right next to the road.
Definitely a fun place, at least until the black flies come out next month.

Pete, it is Sunset Rock, it's often reffered to Twiss Rock, because it's on Twiss Road.

Well if it's been developed then there aren't any route descriptions in any guide I've ever read. Beside there's some nice deep crevasses behind the road way that'd be nice to play with.

Well obviously the area has been developed. (Hence those damn annoying orange ticks) I think what C_P want to do is document some of the existing routes, just so we could actually have more in the database on this one.

Yeah someone told me (who I can't remember) that those orange tics were put up in the 70's by a climbing academy of some sort. You'll find the same tics on rattlesnake and nemo (alledgedly, I haven't seen any myself). What I think we should do is find out all that beta and transfer it here, sound good?

So what's the plan... assume that all previously developed routes are lost to "oral tradition" and name what you've done and document it? I'm not sure I'd be so quick without a diligent search for info...
Ya know, if you want to publish a little booklet of routes for the spot, it's easier done that said (sez he with some experience in self-publishing). Somewhat more permenent than web-databases (something I consider "electronic oral tradition", and about as reliable as the usual sort), although it might invite more numbers to the area .

hmmm electronic oral tradition... I like the sound of that! And I agree with you, there's a good chance that we could loose all the stuff on this board, _but_ there's also a good chance that this board will be here for a while still. So, we might as well do what we can with what's FREE!
