you only have to look at some the crazy names in climbing to know whether first ascent was done by a stoner or not, bein a stoner means you enjoy the high from certain things like adrenaline and weed etc. and like bein outside and feel axhilerated by things, bein a climber means you enjoy the adrenaline high, outdoors and the exhileration of it all, put them both together and you have one hell of a mix! FYI im actually rather stoned writing this

I have to throw my vote for Yabo.
It's wierd I gotta 3.8 GPA smoking before just about every class. But climbing I feel like I might make that stupid "I'm too high" mistake, sorta like those 10 times I forgot about my pizza in the oven untill the fire alarm goes off after several bingers. Bouldering I'll pack one and play any time.

too good to let slip off the front page...but as for me...i agree with the last guy...bouldering and burning is where its at...roped climbing can get a little too intense i think...dont get me wrong i do a lot of things high, but somethings are meant only for the endocloud.

Mort Hemple. Anyone ever smoke banana peels, or skins of unsalted peanuts, or trip on nutmeg? Just curious.

Ack, nutmeg tripping. A teenage experiment that went horribly wrong.

i had a friend in college that ate two entire bottles of nutmeg after throwing up multiple times and then we waited and waited and waited...but nothing ever happened...until the next day :? farts....and i dont just mean farts... it was like a nutmeg factory gone all wrong. agressive farts...even he left the area...and our person in charge on our floor told him to go out on the fire escape if he had to fart because one person actually vomited from the smell.

I climb stoned a good bit. I think its fun, though i sometimes feel like crankin hard on a route can kinda take your high away. As for trippin i have climbed some boomin as well as on some good old electric coolaid though in times tike this i generally like to stick to somewhat easy routes, though it is good if they have a lot of exposure. I think this is because routes like this just let me simply flow up the rock which is what trippin or just getting stoned is mainly all about, goin with the flow.

I know plenty of climbers who do, and just as many if not more that don't. This thread is a good example of the vocal people are the onesmore likely to speak up and say they do.

I think you find that the married w/kids crowd is a little more anti than the younger bouldering crowd which is a little more pro.

I personally wouldn't and won't, and am not a big fan of people doing it if they are going to belay me.

there is this stoner dude who goes to my gym, well, if he remembers to. he will climb hard-core for a couple months, forget that climbing even exists, and then return a few months later and be pulling routes like the best climbers there. it's quite inspiring, and makes me wonder if i should start getting stoned again. would that be considered performance enhancement?

Damn I wish, I get stoned and I can't even stay on the rock. Well I haven't tried but I get lazy when I am stoned. But then again I only climb 5.8's so don't expect much.

lol, no i don't think so :D its best described in robin williams stand up about how the stoner should get a gold medal just for getting up off his ass and doing something. (its really funny if you haven't seen it). I always joke about how i need my 'performace enhancing drug' before i go climbing.

personally i don't know if gonja actually improves my climbing ability, but rather it enables me to become super focused on the climb ... you know, it just me and the rock. Some of my best climbing memories are taking the bong rips while looking up at the 5.11+ that im about to climb, or smoking a jay at the top of multipitch trad climb while looking over the magnificant view of the valley and having such a great feeling of accomplishment. I guess im just trying to say that climbing high makes me glad to be alive.

Well, I've just read this whole thread, and I've figured out why I still suck at climbing. I think I'm going to modify my training regimen -- go home, tell the wife I need to buy some plants -- all part of my new conditioning routine. She'll be so pleased :)

Here, I thought I sucked at climbing because I only get out once or twice a week and I'm a big chicken whenever I climb past my last clip. I had no idea that I just needed to "enhance" my experience!

Anyone that hasn't seen a book by the name "The emperor wears no clothes" should. It's about why a plant that has been cultivated and used for as long as humans have been on the planet is now illegal. I realized that everything I heard about it while growing up was bull$hit when I noticed that some of the most intelligent people I'd ever known are stoners! So much propaganda, so little time.....Oh yeah, my vote goes for Lynn.

Buildering is really crazy when you are really high from hot knifing and you start getting paranoid of all the people and cars around you but i guess thats what can make it fun.

This brings up a question I've had for awhile:

Why don't all you potheads take steroids? I mean, if I was like you, and I didn't mind treating my body like a toxic waste dump, I'd hit the Juice. If you're willing to alter your experience with chemicals, why not go all the way?

You say you've had this question for awhile? What took you so long to ask it? & would you like some Doritos?
