Graduate student... low pay, but the flexible schedule allows time for climbing.

IT: No time for good climbing :(

Actually it aint that bad.....1 out of 3 Months I am on call and can't go that far. But fortunetly there is some nice crag's 20 minutes from my house.

And the other 2 out of 3 Months aren't bad. It doesn't matter if my phone works so I get out a little more. :)

Is there ever enough time??

I have a pretty good job right now working with the governemnt on Sydneys water supply. I am probably working the least hours possible for a full time engineer and can get to the crags afterwork in summer and only work a 9 day fortnight so a few full midweek days here and there as well. Plenty of far better jobs than this though but I'm not complaining.

Yea, what he said. Go to grad school, I have had more free time, got paid more to attend class and had a better time than as an undergrad, compareed to a real job, you have plenty o time to hits the walls.

IT = Information Technology = The company computer guy/gal 's.

Graduate students are often nominally reimbersed for the work that they do in a research environment at any university, but it is a whole lot like slave labor.

)Low Voltage Wiring and finishing(sercurity systems primarly)

weekends off, odd time i have to work a weekend (only for no more than 6 hours).....ATLEAST 80 hours a pay run....last payrun was at 92.5 hours (plus overtime and i worked a stat holiday)

only bad thing is my partner works weekends at our old gear shop(i used to work there....there's better money and hours where i am now, which i need, but i don't get outside as much as i want....whatever, business slows down in the winter...can you say roadtrip! 8^) )

I'm a law student. I have a massive loan package which burdens me with debt. But, it means I get to be unemployed.

Being unemployed allows a very flexible schedule for climbing.

You could get a job with a construction crew or trades contractor (electrician, plumber, etc.). This would pay $7-$9 per hour and off in the evenings and weekends. Plenty of time for climbing that-a-way.
