Axis Rope, Long term ownership. 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: donald949, 2012-11-30

I've owned my Axis for over 5 years now. I've put some decent miles on it. Not extreme every weekend, but a good amount. But after 5 years it has held up really well. Lots of cragging, lots of leading and Top Roping. Rough rock at JTree and Alabama Hills. Not really worn, abraded, or fuzed out. Still use it for everything. Might have been a little stiff at first, but broken in just enough. Not too soft.
Recommended.

I Core shot my old rope bought this rope in a pinch because it was cheap.
All around great rope for the price, Ive used it for everything. Yes it is thick and heavy but for cragging who cares. Did a wall with it (el cap) and it stood up to the abuse just fine. Great wall rope cheap thick enough and holds up to abuse, what more do you want. I have core shot a few ropes and in the mountains a thin rope is great but cragging and walls a little thickness suites me fine.

My lifeline 5 out of 5 stars

I've had my 70m rope for three years now and have had very little problems with it. Unfortunately, the store I did buy it at is no longer there. Canyon Sports Cortez, CO...you'll be missed!

Good price...little else 2 out of 5 stars

Got this rope for $120 including shipping. As many others have noted, it is very stiff. I also found it is not very abrasion resistant. In this case you get what you pay for. I've had a lot of ropes and the best so far was a Blue Water.

The rope is ok especially if you consider its price. Its pretty stiff and heavy... Can't find thinner spot than 11,5mm... Other than that the rope is fine. It has lasted 3 years of rock climbing... Top-roping, trad...anything. The mantle broke a little bit after rubbing to a sharp edge. The spot was in the end so I cut the rope and checked the core carefully. Didn't find any cut fibers... I can't blaim its ability to catch falls... Pretty good rope for first one...
