The smell

Unfortunitely all synthetics smell but that shouldn't take away from the fact that they are a good climbing shoe. Try Penguin Sport Wash from REI. Works like a charm.
Fix the smell

Put a peice of fabric softener in each shoe to kill the oder. But seriously, any synthetic will smell like death. The BEST advice? Leave your shoes on your feet and not under your nose. My underwear smells bad after a hard days climbing too, best not to tell Hanes that however.

I agree with the previous reviews, great shoe that hurts like hell and smells like it too. I wear them when I need to stand on something micro, and they do it well. The pointed toe crushes my poor foot but it can dig into bolt holes. They will make you climb much faster as you will be amazed by the grip but more importantly because you will want to get them off your feet as fast as possible!
