Hey big nose 3 out of 5 stars

I've only used them once, for sport climbing, and they worked great. But I couldn't help noticing how bulky the nose was. I wasn't wrangling with threading the 'biner through slings and knots at the time, but I was thinking that these would not be my choice for trad use (which is where I most appreciate the wire-gates.)

These are certainly one of the best 'biners on the market. The svelt nose, the little grippies on the gates, and the wide rope bearing surface are all big pluses.

But I think the new Simond Spiders at least comparable, if not a little better. The Spiders' noses are straighter, so clipping/unclipping bolts or cord is smoother and more direct. The baskets are also deeper and the gate openings are wider. And the gate action is a little more snappy.

As impossible as it may seem, I think the new Spiders are better. Sorry, Spirit, you only get a "4" from me.

I've got wide feet and a big heel. Very few shoes fit me. This is the best fitting shoe I've ever had. If you've got narrow - or even average - size feet, I can understand why this might slide around. But that's why they make Anasazi's.
Also, the synthetic leather holds the shape and size really well. I weigh 205+ and stretch most shoes out really quickly. But not these. Five stars.

The only trouble I've had is that it's sticky when feeding a 10.5mm rope through while in autobloc mode. So I add a second 'biner and it pulls through just fine.
