So it's true that great things come in small packages! Smaller size eases on the "floppy" belay. Fantastic for a belay biner. For the safety freaks (which should be all of us) the red "unlocked" indicator is super handy although I still do the "click" check. Key lock is awesome no hang ups. Worth the extra $$ for a positive purchase.

Light comfy and all around easy to use. I guess the first good thing about this helmet is that after a few hours of wear you actually forget you still have it on. The one thing I don't understand is why Petzl sells it in size 1. That would barely fit my chipmunk. If you're starting out and size 1 barely fits go to size 2 just incase you want to wear a nice warm toque under it. Also if you take friends out size 2 will fit almost any adult. Ok so size 1 is for kids.

I purchased the Boreal Stingmas as my first pair of climbing shoes. I read somewhere that beginners shouldn't purchase beginner's shoes as they end up purchasing a higher performance pair shortly after they fall in love with the sport, therefore, costing twice as much. This pair excells at edging and smearing. Heel hooks are not a problem due to the solid ammount of rubber and jamming in cracks is bomber. As a first pair for me, the Stingma have allowed me to progress to an intermeadiate level quickly and without spending more money. The only negative is the size of the tounge... way to padded and requires it to be folded over itself for a proper closure (pain in the @$$)... less padding is good sometimes.

Excellent for sport routes as your climber tries to work out the crux. The high friction side eases on the belayer's hands (without the cost of a autolocking device). Great for first time rapellers on high friction and lots of fun for experienced rapellers on low.

While searching for a harness I tried on... well I ended up spending 2 hours with a really annoyed sales person. I found that the Blizzard held me upright where others made by body want to lay back. The padding is fantastic and in all the right places. As this was my first harness as a beginer it was comfortable enough to sit in at length to ponder the next problem on the rock. The only con I can see is marginal at best, the traditional style gear loops. I've had lots of hangups going for draws and other gear, in my opinion, moulded loops (at least 2 up front) would make this harness absolutely perfect. However, I will buy another one regardless.
