Description:

APPROACH--Half a mile from the 6,500 foot Southwest Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier landing strip to the 7,000 foot base.

TOTAL TIME--7 to 21 days

VERTICAL GAIN--10,400 feet

DIFFICULTIES & DANGERS--Occasional serac fall from 10,000 feet and avalanche prone lower slopes can be partially avoided by the 1974 Southwest Toe Variation; cornices on the ridge from 11,500 to 13,600.

CAMPS--8,100 (southeast toe, or 8,500 on top of southwest toe); 11,650 (above face); 13,200 (before final cornice); 13,900.
