5 out of 5 stars Onsight

This was a fun climb and a good lead for me. I would like to start thinking about climbing just a bit higher before clipping the draws. I don't think I need to be reaching so high to clip the bolts the way I have been. Simply climb a bit higher and have an easier time and more controlled clipings.

5 out of 5 stars TR

This was a fabulous climb, nice moves and problems to solve all the way up. Pass a couple roofs and find the final crux at the last bulge high up. I fell here a couple times before making it up. I would like to TR it again only to do it clean next time. This can be set up easily as a TR by first leading Choss Temple Pilots 5.8 just around the corner.

5 out of 5 stars Onsight

I lead the first pitch - Crux - and the last pitch. Justin lead the middle pitch.
The last pitch was a bit of route finding and I ended up finding a face section with good holds just above my last good pro placement. This section ran out for a good 20 feet before the next available piece of pro. A bit scary but I just had to push through it to finish the climb. Not a good place to fall. It felt good despite the fall potential.

4 out of 5 stars Hang Dog - Onsight

This was a great lead for me but I spent a while checking out the crux and then down climbing until I had to take a short hang on the rope while I got my strength back to make the reachy crux move and finish the climb. Really nice climb!

5 out of 5 stars Flash

I belayed for Neil while he climbed and then I lead it after him with the draws left in the rock. This was a fun climb and a nice warm up to get you focused and thinking about footing etc.

Elizabeth lead first and left the draws in for me to lead after her. This was a good climb and it was more like a 9+ or an easy 5.10

Elizabeth lead this before me so I got beta from watching her and she left the draws in, then I lead it directly after her. Fun Climb for sure!

3 out of 5 stars TR

I tried to lead this free. then I tried with the first bolt clipped and still couldn't get it. Even on TR I fell a few times. Really hard first moves but super fun!

4 out of 5 stars Onsight... Kinda

So Elizabeth and I tried for like 30 minutes to stick clip the first bolt and we just couldn't Jimmy it with our lack of resources. I finally just manned up and went for it. I got the draw on the bolt and then had to hang from it to clip the rope. Then I lowered down and started over. So I don't know if I can really call it an onsight but I still lead it clean after that so thats my story and I am sticking to it! My first 5.10d!!!

Second Second ascent by: JonStein118 on 2011-05-08 (View Climbing Log)

5 out of 5 stars Second with an onsight of pitch 2 5.8

The guide book by Bob D'Antonio rates this climb as a 5.9- and I would certainly agree and even say that the final crux pitch may even be more like a 5.9+ This climb is surely a classic and was really fun to do. I must go back and lead the first and third pitches some time soon! The final crux pitch protects well just below the final crux move but during and above the crux is shitty to protect and my need to be run out a bit.
