4 out of 5 stars Climbers right from Pee break

Climbed several variants - right to a bushy crack was a little more of a challenge; far left close to Pee break was also good. Going up the middle, I ended up zig-zagging left & right.

4 out of 5 stars Zig-zag

Cool, overcast day in the gorge. Water level was pretty high - only a few feet of rock to stand on at base. Fun climb.

3 out of 5 stars Delivery Room

Cool, windy day. Had Seclusion area to ourselves. Challenging moves down low - the quartz nubs are fairly slick. The climb is pretty simple once the crack narrows.

3 out of 5 stars Goldilocks

Took the kids climbing. Good route for beginners and kids. Climbed by a 6 and 12 yr old. Fun route down low, but breaks up into a series of ledges about 2/3 up. Not really worth climbing above that. Bolted anchors at top.

4 out of 5 stars DRS

Fun climb. Easy cruise until you hit the roof. You must step out onto the face to move around the roof - that's when it get fun. Once you make the ledge above, you are basically done.

4 out of 5 stars Peg's Progress w/ variant finish

Followed P.P. up to second ledge, but instead of traversing to right, we went left. It would be easier to set up top rope rig from left as opposed to right. Difficult to find - no real trail so you have to bushwack some and either rappel or stumble upon the down climb. Brutally hot in summer!

4 out of 5 stars Purple Horse River Wall

Several possibilities here - face is fairly broad. Approach hike is not bad, maybe 20 minute hike in. Very, very hot in summer months. Check the river level - the base of this climb could be under water if the Potomac is high. Fairly easy climbing on right side and a little more difficult on left side.

5 out of 5 stars Jane's Face

Really fun climb. Seems sandbagged at 5.6. The quartz nubs are pretty slick - difficult footing. My partner and I worked two different variations on the face. Typical Carderock set up - static line and slings on trees/rocks.
