About Railay West Beach and Tonsai Bay:

With 12 sections and over 120 routes many of which are multi-pitch, the Railay West Beach and Tonsai Bay are the most spectacular climbing areas in Thailand if not in Southeast Asia. Thaiwand Wall is the most prominent and sought after section with multi-pitch routes of 100m+. While Tonsia Bay or Andaman Beach, at the northern end offers great overhang climbs over white sands and sparkling seas. It's a climber's paradise, there's no other way to describe it. IMPORTANT NOTICE: OWING TO THEIR EXPOSURE TO THE SEA, BOLTS AND PROTECTIONS ON THE RAILAY PENINSULAR OFTEN HAVE A SHORTER THAN NORMAL LIFESPAN. IT IS CRITICAL THAT, IF YOU DO NOT HIRE A GUIDE, AT LEAST ENQUIRE ABOUT THE CONDITIONS OF YOUR INTENDED ROUTES PRIOR TO CLIMBING.
Nearest town or city: Railay Peninsular, Krabi
Directions: This is the beach where most of the long-tail boats/ ferries from Krabi and Ao Nang will land but is easily walkable from Railay East Beach. Thaiwand Wall is at the southern end of the beach while Tonsai Bay or Andaman Beach is over the hill at the northern end.
