About Juno Wall:

This 45 m high limestone band is located on the south side of highway 16, about 50 km east of Jasper. The cliff is south-west facing down into the Rocky River Valley. The crag is brand new, and was set through the titanic effort of certain local climbers. The climbs are mostly steep slab and technical face climbing with a few small bulges (no big jugs to pull on). The rock is good quality limestone, very sharp. The climbs are all 28 - 30 meters, with two 45 meter multipitch routes. All routes are well bolted, and chain anchors up top for easy rapells. Top roping to start off is impossible, you have to lead the climbs. The crag gets tons of sun, and is perfect for early and late season climbing.
Nearest town or city: Jasper
Directions: From Jasper, go east on hwy 16. Park in the pullout on the left hand side in the third 70 kmh zone just after crossing the rocky river for the second time. There should be a stone monument here and a sign pointing to the De Smet range. Cross the road and walk right along the abandoned road bed. 10 minutes up the road bed, there will be a small pond on the left hand side. Turn left here and follow the cliff band up the hill. Walk along the cliff band for 20 minutes until reaching an obvious weakness with some trees at the bottom. Juno is recognized by the lone spruce tree growing at it's base. Also, the bolts gleaming in the sun give it away. To leave, walk along Juno wall towards the highway, then scramble up the ridge (cable hung here to make it safer, there is exposed scrambling here!) then walk along the ridge back to the highway. Make this your normal approch next time (it's diffcult to find your way this way if you don't know where you're going), look for a large rock cairn.
