Description:

Traditional crack climbing up to a small roof and over. The striking finger crack with a huge tree growing out of it. Climb to tree (optional belay if you are tired). Keep going and pop out on to the J-shaped crack on the face. Pull a small roof and climb 5.6/7 cracks to the top. A 60m rope will get you to the top from the start of the vertical stuff, but if you have a 50m, you will have to belay at the tree. FA: Rob Muir & Mike Graham, 1972.

5 out of 5 stars There's a reason this has been on my to-do list for years

We walked up to an empty route in the shade late in the day. No other climbers around for miles. No time for an easier warm-up for me, so I just had to do it. Onsighted by the skin of my teeth. I think I have led easier 10a's in some places, but this is 5.9 at Tahquitz/Suicide.

Feet are very slippery during the first moves but protection is exceptionally good on this route!

5 out of 5 stars Classic

Amazing route. Don't underestimate the finger crack on the first pitch, and don't let the crux on the second freak you out.
