About Pennsylvania:

Pennsylvania, the Keystone State, is a great home base for east coast climbers. There is over 6000 sq. miles of state land that includes a few fairly large, exposed cliffs and boulder fields. There are many more relatively small but extremely high quality cliffs hidden in the deep valleys and along it's many rivers while higher up you'll find exposed parapets protruding from the mountain sides and ridgetops of the Appalachian mountains. With 300+ areas, no matter where you are in the state, it is easy to find a good climbing area close by. Also, the state's position as the keystone of the northeastern states makes it centrally located for quick weekend road trips into WV for the NRG and Seneca Rocks, into NY for the Adirondacks and the Gunks, and into VA for Old Rag granite.
