About Pirates Cove:

Low water access only. Pirates Cove is accessible from early fall to early spring when the water is released from the Summersville Dam. Following the main trail from the parking lot there are 3 ways to access this area. 1 - Do not cross broken down bridge, instead stay right on wide trail, follow the trail to the top of the cliff (you are now atop Pirate's Cove), continue for 20 yards until a break in the cliff and descend. 2- Cross the broken bridge and continue on main trail towards the Army Corp. of Engineer's ladder, but before reaching the stove, turn right and head down obvious trail past a locals' campsite. At campsite follow trail to the left and descend fixed nylon cords. 3 - Follow directions to the Coliseum, then simply walk along the cliffline until you enter an obvious cove (300 yards ?). Beware, many of the routes in the cove have rusted bolts or very high first bolts because of the summertime water levels.
