I am VERY psyched for my first time ice climbing, any beta would be greatly appreicated.

Since you asked, it is time for me to reveal the Eight-step Reno Enduro Climbing Training (ERECT.)

1. Spend $4000 on "technical performance" clothing that is guaranteed to wick sweat, keep you warm and dry, and made from rip proof fabric. Take it out of the box, put it on, and admire the look. For the first time you actually wear it climbing, you will get soaked with sweat, drenched in water, cold, and large tears will develop.

2. Take a couple of claw hammers, a large sheet of pressboard, and a hose. Turn on the hose, aim the water at the pressboard, and keep it up until the wood is soaking wet. Use this to perfect your tool swinging technique.

3. From time to time, have your best friend pour a bucket of ice water down your back and throw ice cubes at your head.

4. When practicing the tool placement technique, wear rollerskates. This will approximate the sensation of crampon placement.

5. Try not to squirm as rivulets of sweat find their way to your backside and slowly trickle down your crack. No matter what, you should resist at all costs the urge to scratch your crack with the business end of your ice tools. There is no good that can come from that. Don't believe me, ask Redpointron.

6. For the true alpine experience, do this with a 40 pound pack.

7. Procedeed to the local el mercado (grocery store) and purchase some dried poblano peppers. Grind them into a fine dust consistency, and shove a pinch up your nose. Without moving your tool placements, try to wipe the resultant snot on your gloves.

8. Retire to the hot tub, drink cold beers and single barrel tequila, and talk about how great it was and how you look forward to going tomorrow, too.

Hey Steve,

It's about time someone posted a Donini in Drag shot! There was so much potential there.

Where is the school?

I just wish I got a better shot, its a little dark.

The school I'm going to is in Idaho. I'll do most of it by correspondence from here and then a few months in Twin Falls for the clinical/ internship work.

then of course, checking out City of Rocks and heading south for Sarcat to give me a tour of the SLC area 8^)

Best Western is party central. You have my cell number, right, Erica? If not, I'll shoot you a PM.

Everyone arrives Thursday, we climb and party each day and night, and spend the next 51 weeks recovering.

Well, i guess ill throw my hat into the ring, but not the festival just yet. Im going homeless to save money with my current job and plan on heading down to the park a week or so before the soiree. I think my survey starts up again on the 9th so ill double check because it would be fun to swing drink stumble and swear with all of you again. I'll work on the schedule, you work on the tequilla.....

So, since Miss climberchic and her hubby will be in attendance, and in the interest of diversity, I propose the following:

On Wednesday, those of us that are arriving early will gather at the lower bridge. We'll bring avy shovels, and begin the process of making the biggest freaking snowball the town of Ouray has ever seen. I'm talking HUGE, people. No, not the sort of "huge" that Sharpie tries to pass off as the size of his cajones (which would be more like a snow-BB, but I digress,) but really big. 10 feet, minimum. Then we spray it with water, let it set overnight, and it will freeze. Big ice ball.

This way, Erica and Ivan can go "Ice Bouldering" during the festival.

Who's in?

BTW, has anyone else ever thought that the country song "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" was just written for Mother_Sheep?

Maybe it's just me.

Psst. Tim? Yo, Tim? HEY, TIM!

Yeah, you.

C'mere.

[stage] Tim, cause we're pals and all that, and I love you (you know, in that way that a man can love another man and not have to wear leather pants when he says it,) I'll tell you this little secret:

kasharp is a chick. Not a dude.

Yeah, a female.

No, I'm not kidding.

What's that?

Yeah, I'm fairly sure she's got bigger hooters than Mother_Sheep. I mean, hell, even YOU have bigger.... Oh, never mind.

Anyway, figured you might like to know.

Yeah. Later.

Don't give him forgiveness so easily.... make him sing a rousing rendition of "I'm a Little Teapot" while center stage at Orvis.

The sheer irony of such a sight will make it worth the bail money.

Trust in your Uncle Reno, do as I say.
