So i don't get it. Google maps tells me it is a 8 hour drive from here, but a six hour drive from new hampshire, which is 3.5 hrs away.
It gave us some weird results for the route from here to St.Anne. It said one way was quiet a bit further, but starting at a different spot it gave a different answer for the time. It ends up being pretty much the same either way we go. I think.
Every time I use google or yahoo to map something the time is usually longer than my actual driving time. Perhaps they take into account the posted maximum speed limit and calculate times that way?
they use something along the lines of the following.

small roads that are only named 25 mph
state roads 35 mph
highways 55 mph

so, they don't take into account places where you have tons of stoplights or where you have good speed limits on small roads.
They don't count ferry time either.

Ferry time might be rough. A little note saying there is an estimated time of 3 hours for a ferry would be more useful.

I didn't plan on feeding Calvin again, so I hope they make it home by the 2nd.

Guess I should send them a text
Maybe you should just call?

Or post here.

Or show up for your party that we came home early to put a stop to.

you kids and your texting....I just don't get it.
We don't have voice mail on our cell. Also you only need a second or two of service to send an receive them. Useful when you actually get out climbing and there is no service.

I wish I would have got a picture of the place we wanted to stay. They had a grass topped hut even. Right on the beach.

We are back a day early. We needed to head off Partygirl's big party at our place.

Is the house still standing?
Yes

the cat was out of food though.

Damn, you took a page out of my parents book. Hated when they used to come home a day early.

Probably good you did, you would have been driving in snow tomorrow.
We drove in snow most the way anyway

But what I has is starting to get old. New point and shoot digi cams can be much better for wider images.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I know a little about cameras. I'm looking forward to seeing yours.
She can be the new photo girl.

I'll need someone to take pictures of me for the magazines.

Oh come on, I'm sure you will do okay with that big fancy camera, if in fact you ever take it out climbing. When you are doing the photo shoots you will be to busy snapping photos to be climbing so it really won't be taking your camera out climbing. As the photog you will get to keep the money you get from the magazines. I get the publicity and sponsorships.

I would rather be climbing than taking photos. Nice try though
Do you think you will be able to climb on the way sick gnar?

It was 28 hours or so to get to AZ from WI. I've drove it straight several times.

Doesn't sound like fun. And you are fuckin toasted for a day or two after that.
Leave in the evening so you drive the night while you are fresh. Arrive at your destination before dark. Got to bed and sleep in a little and you are good to go the next day.

One thick pair. They need to fit snug don't they?
You foot needs to not move but if you hit your toes on the front when you kick it will be misserable.

Heavy snow or freezing rain.

It snowed most of the way home. 2/3 of the way it was double track but we were still able to do about 100 for most of it.

Driving in the snow is all about keeping distance from the other cars. You spin out and do a 720 without hitting anythin, you high five your passenger and put the car back in gear.
If you stay on the road.

Its also nice to change your undies before continuing.
