Definite Ectomorph. You can check my profile pic to see for sure. Not an ounce of meat on me. I'm tall (6'1) and weigh about 155lbs. Most of it is in my legs. I've got powerful legs which tend to weigh me down on hard or overhung routes, and thin spaghetti arms that can't lift me worth a damn. Despite this, I tend to do okay. I make up for it to some extent with my super long reach. However, balancy technical climbs tend to be where I excel. I still like to push overhangs, endurance climbs, and powerful boulder problems however. After all, working one's weaknesses is one of the best ways to improve.

I'm about 5'11" have an Ape index of about 1"
I weigh in at 148lbs. Can't seem to gain weight for the life of me.
I guess I'm pretty tall and skinny. good for climbing, eh?
I'm 21 and have been climbing for about 3.5 years.
I think I'm best at sport climbing but my trad and sport levels have been rapidly aproaching each other this summer. Bouldering has never been my strong point.

I think that most boulderers are endomorphs:

The smoke a little endo, then suddenly think they've morphed into Chris Sharma.

6'2", 191# (and gaining, but in a good way). +2" ape index.

I am 5.11 170lbs with an ape index of +5 (buying dress shirts are a pain). I dig on bouldering and dynamic moves. Anything with an overhang is f.u.n..

6' around 165. A "perfect square", meaning my reach is as wide as i am tall. Its kind of inbetween with different climbs, stamina is ok and brute force is ok.

I'm 5'2" and skinny. I weigh right about 100-103. I have great core and good endurance, but I need to work on strength more. Almost flashed an 5.11c (fell last bolt).

So, How about this one? I'm 6'1 260 lbs. I'm pretty strong (former collegiate rugby player) and find I can power up many climbs, but am a little short in the finness category.

Any other big guys out there that have some advice for a noobie?

Hey dude I can completely relate. I am 6'1 212ish now.....but when I began climbing I was 6'1 260. I had been a bodybuilder, powerlifter and strongman competitor. In those sports (as with rugby and football) size matters! Ughhh BIG matters. When your the big guy, you got a lot of leverage, mentally and PHYSICALLY. However, you hang around the crags or Rock climbing gym and you see all these 5'10 120 lb guys just flying up and down routes not even sweating, when my big stumps are craving oxygen! What I did, and I would recommend to you, is to start coming down SLOWLY. Like don't loose more than 2 lbs a week. Yeah its a slow run BUT you will keep all your muscle and MOST (not all  ) of your strength. I am struggling now myself in getting to 200. However, I am almost more ripped than when I would enter my bodybuilding contests. It is interesting how the body adapts. Remember climbing is a sport where many body types prevail. My "role model" per se' is John Long. When he did the first one day ascent of the nose he was like 201ish. I mean if those guys could do it, so can we. Anyway try coming down slowly and you will be amazed at the progress as well as the muscle you have kept. Pretty soon you can walk around the crag with out a shirt on and not block out the crag itself...at least I would have.... 8^)
PM me if you want some more tips.

3" Ape Index

Well, my main adv is flexibility. I probably have it more so than anyone else I've climbed with. (one leg can be full static and the other can go to a hold above my waist). Also reach helps. I'm lean more toward the static moves compared to dynamic. My endurance is getting better, but is a major weakness. I can pull on fingernail holds all day but I run out of gas quick.

nice pic! I would have to get sick for about a year to get to 150lbs! hahahah My flexability has definitely gotten better since I have been climbing. Do some laps on like 5.4 routes in the gym to get your stamina up...it really has helped me.

8^)

Did you know that the more flexible you are the less muscle you have and vise versa???

I'm a 6' 2" 21 year old male weighing in at about 220 lbs.

When I was 18, I weighed 180, but I was visibly skinny then. Right now, I would say I look pretty proportional to my height, but I'm pretty flabby around the midsection.

Over the summer, I became ill due to drinking stream water in the Andes which resulted in massive diarrhea and me not eating for a week. I lost 20 pounds during that week, presumably most of it water weight.

I came home and I tried to keep the weight off, but I'm back to 220 now. Oh well. :-P

Don't know about my ape index. I'm pretty sure my arm span is longer than my height. I also suck on overhanging stuff, and my hamstrings need more stretching. :-/

I like to say I have a "large frame", but I'm not too sure how true that is.

I'm about 5'2", and around 110 lbs. I think I'm better with long, strechy moves. Which is great, because being a 5'2" woman, pretty much everything is a long strech for me! But I really think a good, strong grip, flexibility and killer endurance are the things that will make up for it. I got back into climbing a year ago, and still can't do some of the dynamic moves. Lord knows, I can't hardly pull off a decent dino to save my life. (kinda uncoordinated, at times!) but hell, I can dig my bony, little callused fingers into any chip, and palm anything- my happiest day was showing my horrified boyfriend how I could do pull ups off the itty-bitty moulding around our door frames.

Im alittle over 6' and weight about 160 pounds. I seem to do pretty well on the steep stuff, body sized offwidths can sometimes be a problem if when i find that i must work partially inside, and partially outside of the crack.
