Received word on Monday from the publisher that the first volume of the new comprehensive Climber's Guide to Joshua Tree -- Joshua Tree West -- has arrived in their warehouse and is being shipped to retailers. http://www.globepequot.com/...es/0-7627-2965-1.jpg It is available on line at the publisher's website http://www.globepequot.com/globepequot/index.cfm?fuseaction=customer.product&product_code=0%2D7627%2D2965%2D1&category_code= ...and likely on other on-line book sellers very shortly. Local climbing retailers should have copies momentarily too. I expect I'll get my copies long after all the stores. Let the gripes, slander (and faint praise) begin. Check my profile if you are interested in details about what is covered by, and found in, the guide.

Curt, I know its been a long wait... for me too -- the publisher sat on this thing forever  But once I get my shipment, I'll send one along -- I presume your address is still good?

3 Volumes! Goodness gracious, someone has been hard at work. As of the first edition was not a magnum opus...

In reply to: And, will you be selling them as sets? Probably do a Special Edition Boxed Set of the Joshua Tree Trilogy... (or maybe not).

Dude, I'm there -- can't wait for the DVD, which will almost certainly contain: - The making of JT. - The directors cut. The routes that didn't make it to your local bookstore. - The exclusive behind the scenes look at the topo stunt doubles. - Out takes, blurry photos, and misspelled words. Congrats on the new guidebook(s), Randy.

Hey Shorty -- Thanks! The blurry photos and misspelled words come at no extra charge with the actual guide! Just got my copies today, and overall I'm pretty pleased. Nomads and a few shops have just received the book as well. I'd appreciate any comments, corrections, critiques, and/or suggestions for the other volumes, etc.

picked up a copy of the new guide at Nomad this past weekend. just noticed in my copy that there's a duplicate of pages 469-500, and that pages 501-532 are missing. others seeing the same? randy? and yes, every time i purchase a new book i'd first flip through and count the pages and then and only then would i commence reading

It will be a collectors edition in a 40-50 years.

Someone at Nomads showed the particualr copy to me this weekend (Nomads exchanged it out for baja_java and is returning it to the publisher). Sounds like an entire signature (grouping of pages that are sewn together) got dupicated. Happens on rare occasion on the high speed presses that produce books.
