there are three kinds of hand jams. the hand jam, is were you stick your in the crack with your thumb usually facing up you bend your fingers at either the first or second joint. Fiddle your hand around in the crack to get the best hold. the second is the fist jam. You make a loose fist and stick it into the crack then tighten it as hard as you can. third is a hand stack, which is a fist jam with once side of you hand against the crack and the other against your other hand. so you have both hands in the crack. Taping your hands helps with cuts and scrapes.

there is also an extremely painful finger jam. you use your fingers for jamming. auch. better dont fall on that one.

Head to Yosemite for a while. You will get schooled very quickly in all forms of jamming. Fingerlocks, off-finger, hand, off-hand.
