Ambler, no Line for us. We warmed up on Bear Reach and then were out of time. I was also a little concerned about pulling the last 5.8 roof on The Line with snow on top :)

Greg, yep, thats snow. We got a couple inches in the morning and the approach trail and base of the climbs was still snowy when we got there. Once the sun came out it started to melt, though we still have some here up at the lake.

Bear Reach was fun, though wet in sections. Since Cory led the wet pitches, I'll let him give the report.

What, you think I was mean to make him lead the wet pitches? I thought it would make him feel right at home! :D

As Kevin said...The only thing we got on was Bear's Reach, but it was quite fun. I arrived in Sacramento at noon, stopped for lunch on the way up and scoped out the dry sections of the cliff. Beautiful climbing in a great setting.

Here's a shot of Kevin on the first pitch:

and a shot into the sun...

Corporate?? Not me. I work from home in my pajamas :) However, Danielle made it known that she would not be upset if I took a hiatus from facial hair, so i did. Her response? "hhhmmm.... you look different". Oh well

Off to the Valley tomorrow! Cory seems to be having a good time. I put his odds at returning to Boston at 70/30 right now. I think by Monday he'll be buying Alex a one way plane ticket out here :)

Jake, hope you had good times @ LW. fristion in the Milford bldrs was prime. I spent a good couple hours saturday afternoon playing on my new favorite boulder (the "Spall" boulder), doing laps on a couple problems in the 5.7-5.9 range, and working out a balancy foot traverse line on a thin upward sloping crack. I can see a prblem going up the right hand arrette that looks V-very-hard-ish, and maybe a crazy commiting dyno thing up the very blank middle of the face.

I added acouple screwlinks and rap rings to the bolted hangers on the top, made rapping off the thing much nicer. and also I didnt' have to leave any of my carbiners.

my new right hand still urts abit to climb on, especially on mamtles, but it's getting better every day and NO More Numb Fingers! yay.

No one posted up so saturday i covered the football game at the school i work at now and then sunday i went for a 18.5 mi ride with my dad

i've actually been more motivated to ride than climb lately.. but the colder air will change that quickly and i'll get more into finding a project at the woods to get on. work will definitely keep that to mostly weekends though due to fall river and LW being so far apart.

everybody, gabe, Acherry, Cory, kev, swell pics, hope to have a few of my own to contribute again in a couple weeks...

...another rope-solo adventure plan is taking shape. maybe some recon this weekend, and then a northerly expedition aound the first of nov./my bday on the 3rd...I will entertain the idea of a partner, but they'd have to be avialable on thursday 11/1, and friday 11/2, and most likely tent it.

Chad, can I borrow your rope?

FUCKING COOL! Vasya's getting mutant strong and it's awesome to see a local going big time. And he's only 20 and already cranking high numbers

Hey all, I dropped Core at the airport this morning and he is headed back to see all of you in NE. We had a blast at the Valley this weekend. I'll let Cory post the pics when he gets a chance. Our tick list:

Nutcracker
Bishop's Terrace
Super Slide
Aid Route (2 pitch free climb at Swan Slab)
Commitment

I think its safe to say that Cory will be back for more as soon as his hands heal :)

Thanks for coming out to visit Cory. I had a blast!!

Kevin, I had a great time!

After a CF of a travel day, I just now got home and am ready to pass out. As far as the Valley goes, there is nothing to see.

(Taken yesterday on our descent)

The 5.9 fingers variation of the first pitch of Nutcracker was my first Valley climb...Thanks Kevin, for giving that lead to me.

oh...and I figure this isn't that bad for climbing 5 out of the last 7 days ...with no tape:

Holy shit! what's that like, climbing sheet glass with dimes scotch-taped to the surface...that's overhung by 45 degrees?

Impressive. Congrats to him.

I would however posit that 20-25 is, or should be, the expected age for such achievements. Don't see many of these mutant routes being put up by the 30+, married, well fed, employed set.

Rob, Rope is yours. Me? hmmmm tempting....

Rob it's not super steep but it's definitely pretty thin and some technical sections on it. The craziest move i got to see while he was working was a dynamic foot match/switch from a thin undercling above his head. so he basically jumped his foot off the wall then stabbed his right foot onto that hold haha sickness

Doing a reset of the basement wall tomorrow night i think with my friend Jon.. hopefully get some fun problems up. I keep thinking i want more slopers but then realize that 40 Degrees is not really sloper territory :P
