VC Pro Belay Synergy Biner (Manufacturer link) Average Rating = 3.00/5 Average Rating : 3.00/5

Many top features! 5 out of 5 stars

Has more friction than ATC Guide or Reverso (sharper "fishbones"). Good shape, no sharp edges, rope runs good. Lightweight. Good craftmanship. For smooth rappel, better turn it around and have the side withOUT the teethes downwards.

Only con, for whom it may concern: No "Guide mode" for self-blocking belay of the following climber.

Know for what you want it 4 out of 5 stars

BD's tuber works well with thin and coated ropes (10mm and below) Thicker ropes or rough mantle makes a hop-hop abseil, can't give out rope fast and so on. Good as autoblock. Heavy. Through the V-form of the fishbone brakes, different to Reverso, more breaking power On thin ropes only! If you want more friction, look for Wild Country's VC Pro.

Petzl's Meteor is better (more advanced) for sportclimbing 3 out of 5 stars

I had the Elios and now have the Meteor. The Meteor is far cooler, better ventilation, less weight.

Excellent quality, but U-stem 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: martinheynert, 2007-05-17

I own a couple of these. Nothing to say against them except that the U-stem (any U-stem-cam) in VERTICAL positions tends more to wander than single stems if rope drag occurs.

These cams are faster and easier to handle than WiCo's, that's true, and the extentable sling can be of some advance in certain situations.

So a mix of DMM and WiCo might be wise.

Katana updated! 5 out of 5 stars

Actually, the KATANA comes with a new Vibram XS-Grip sole. Both more friction and resistance to tear and wear. Real advance over the "old" Vibram XSV.

The form of the last fits my small and flat foot very well. No hot spots, but snug fit. The actual model has soft lining in the toe box area. Better for the toe knuckles than the old full Dentex lining.

A good universal shoe with excellent performance.
