After climbing Minty, I was sitting at the Brauhouse with Gary and Rob O’ enjoying some burgers and beer while it was pouring outside. Out of nowhere the sun came out strong. Rob and I decided to head back to the cliff to get a climb in. The minute he got his gear on at the base of Jackie it started to rain again. We waited in a nearby cave until it stopped only to find the rock too wet to climb. We hiked back to the Uberfall area and he tried for Pink Laurel (still too wet), so we went for Horseman’s in one long pitch. Both of us got up without falling, despite the water, and descended via the Uberfall.

Rick set up a TR. He left the gear so that we could take a look at his work. Definitely easier than first pitch of Birdie Party. Climbed it clean.

Ascent Note
Did first pitch (5.8+) on a TR that Rick set up. Hard stuff, especially in rain. Slipped on first opening sequence (I blame the rain!). Lowered down and got it clean on the second try. Had to put my hand in a pool of water (one of the holds).

Followed first pitch of the climb with Rick leading, and student Ross. It was our first climb of the day, and because of the sporadic showers, we did only first pitches to keep from getting caught on the cliff in the rain. Pitch was a little wet (most were for the day) but everyone got up just fine.

Rob gave a patient belay as was trying to figure out the 9+ crux at the end of the route. Eventually made it clean with a hairy right handed crimp.

Ascent Note
Avoided the chimney at the start and instead did the harder face. Rest of the climb went smoothly. Rob did this route (and the next two) in approach shoes. All of these CT climbs were done during the AMC 2006 training class.
