5 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

In harsh and constant wind, this was my first route at Seneca. The tunnel/passage, where climbers duck through to finish the route on the backside of the mountain, had been transformed into a wild wind tunnel! This is one of my most favorite ascents.

5 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

"North Carolina's finest wilderness climbing," we smiled as we hiked from trail, to deer path, to a bouldered gully descent. We began the climb on a tiny ledge. Somewhere around the third pitch my climbing buddy finished leading a pitch and I waited to switch from belayer to climber. I turned to enjoy the exposure of my perch and a Peregrine Falcon soared along the Gorge with the river crashing below. The falcon landed slightly around the corner from me. How I love climbing!

0 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

With an early start on a warm and welcoming day, Chillyweather and I were determined to finish our longest multi-pitch climb. We began with Jim Dandy's 3 pitches, continued with the 3 pitches of My Route, and reached the top of the mountain just before a rain storm unleashed. I have always enjoyed climbing, but that day I realized my connection to the sport and its connection to wilderness.
