I enjoyed this climb and summit hike very much, speically, my exposed belay perch at the top of the 4th pitch (the end of the most of the 5th class climbing). We downclimbed the SE Ridge (3rd class) and back to the Crest to our car.

Cleaned both pitchs. The 2nd half of the 1st pitch is 4th class, a better alternative would be to work up the arett/face to the right. The 5.6 2nd pitch was excellent.

This is a great route. At the bottom I got off route left but managed to traverse back on route on some "hail mary" holds. I think I skirted the 5.9 section off route to the right. Still, I had an excellent time, shaky and frantic but good.

Ascent Note
Led 1st pitch off route to the left (harder) but finished pitch on route. Cleaned/second 2nd pitch. An very good climb specially the 2nd pitch. Will have to do it again.

This was great, my 1st 5.7 lead in a long time. Also lead the 5.6+ 2nd pitch. Top roped the 5.5 2nd pitch. My best climb yet on El Rito. Need to go back and try the 5.8 var on the 2nd pitch. I think the crux was the 1st move onto the diagnal crack 20m up.
