5 out of 5 stars This climb made my day at Quartz

After South Pacific we climbed down to the rap station at the top of Amazon Woman. We rapped using two 60m ropes, climbed back up to the start of South Pacific, swung out to the right onto the route, and top roped this one using one 60m rope. After watching some guy free solo it, we thought what the heck. Anyway I had some trouble with the 1st steep section that my brother cruised by and my brother had some trouble with a large mantling step move which I cruised by. I don't concider myself a 5.10 climber; so, making this climb really psyched me up.

3 out of 5 stars 1st Trad Route at Quartz

From the top of Accidents Will Happen we traversed over to the base of the climb. My brother, Carl, led it and this time he didn't knock himself unconscious

4 out of 5 stars Working on the feet

After climbing Who's got the Juice, I attempted Super Slide (I backed down) and then we swung the rope around to Accidents Will Happen. I climbed up the bolted route and really had to step up my foot work. After climbing this we hoisted our packs and climbed the arete just to the right of the bolted route

3 out of 5 stars Warm up

This is the 1st route we did at Quartz. My brother, Carl, led it. We started directly below the 1st bolt.

3 out of 5 stars Great climb.

I set the first piece and backed down, My buddy Jim, set the next piece and another piece real close and backed down. I finished leading the climb. The guide book says two pitches but I made it in one with a short 50m rope (part of it was cut off) and with my buddy Jim had to climb and to the first piece (10-15 ft up) for me to finish.

Much better this time. The protection was good and my placements were right on. I also finished out the 2nd pitch, this time more of an Arete/ridge route to the right of the belay anhors. This route was very good.

Excellent the second time. I choose a more vertical line, good pro, and a little harder. We topped out on a small pinnacle.

This route is 15-20ft left of Cave Woman. I followed Jim and climbed directly up and over the roof using the crack that runs up the left for holds. It was fun and not that hard on the fingers.

Much better the second time. I stayed on route by embracing the exposure. I had to set a belay at, what I call, the 60m tree. from there the top was an easy 20 ft scramble. A recomended easy climb, good pro, and fairly consitant grade ~5.3.
