Climbed with SF. We got a late start not knowing what we'd climb that day and ended up deciding Crimson looked awesome. Two parties were ahead of us and only on the lower pitches. We gave them a couple pitches head start and blasted.

We decided to simul most of the route from the go as the parties above us were going slow, so we tied in short to the rope. SF led 1-3 simul, passing the lower party on p2. I led 4 to catch the 2nd of the 1st party. SFled 5-6 with simul. I led 7-8 with simul to the top.

We decided to rap off the back of cloud tower so we wouldn't be rapping on top of the people we passed. That ended up costing me my rope, core shot on the 2nd rap over a sharp edge. Wasn't bad looking when we first did it, by the time we hit the bottom the rope was SKETCH. Will post some pics.

Climbed with SF and split the leads up as so. SF linked 1-2 doing some harder crack to the right instead of the 5.6 chimney. WF 1st 'hard' chimney. SF led what we felt was pointedly the crux chimney. p5 WF. SF linked 6-7 to the top of the trunk. p8 WF. SF linked p9-10 with some simul. WF linked p11-12 with some simul. And we did the ramp with simul climbing. Went super light and super early , once you get past the 2nd hard chimney the rest of the route will fly by. I think it was 8-9 pitches total for us with a 70m rope.

Descent was not too bad for us and we got off the ridge fine, took some route finding down the 3rd class slope though.

Wintertime is so choice in the south.

Amazing how temps and getting on the climb early in the day can make all the difference between hard and easy.

Perfect winter day, I love the south.
