About Boat Rock:

This area is in the middle of a subdivision in an Atlanta suburb. Do NOT climb on boulders that are in people's back yards. Only climb on the boulders in this guide and the boulders further down the dirt road past the swamp.
The boulders are granite and can be very hard on the fingers and toe rubber. Lots of slab and balance climbing. There are a few really good overhung problems, including "Titanic V7" which is super classic. ***WARNING*** Many cars have been broken into while in the Boat Rock parking lot. Make your own decisions regarding how you want to combat this but many windows have been smashed, and people have found that NOTHING is safe in the vehicle (most recently maps, jumper cables, etc.)

| Directions: | From Atlanta: Go I-20 west and get off at the first exit west of I-285 #49 Fulton Industrial Blvd and turn left (south). For the shortcut, turn left on Baker's Ferry Rd (right after the Shell station) 3.7 miles from the freeway. It will dead end into Boat Rock road, and the parking lot will be just on your left. For the harder to miss route, go 4.4 miles and turn left onto Boat Rock Rd at the small traffic light. As you drive you will see a small house on your right with a huge boulder right behind it. Just after this is a small gravel parking lot on your right and you can't miss the trailhead which begins at the kiosk. |
