About Mt. Charleston:

Mount Charleston is the mecca of overhanging limestone just to the north and west of the Las Vegas Metropolitan area. Although predominantly sport, trad climbing can be found here, and soon a new Ice Climbing section will be created for the Ice that does occasionally form here.

Access: Access is generally not a problem, although you do need to drive past homes for some of the areas, so be mindful of this. Camping is available near the Mary Jane trailhead.

When to climb: Due to the elevation, the Mountains regular temperature in the summer is roughly 85, making it ideal for climbing from April to about September. That said, even though its not hot, the sun facing walls can be a bit warm.

Classics: The Rooster, Mary Jane, Infectious Groove, Hasta La Vista

Nearest town or city: Las Vegas
Directions: head north from vegas on 95 and turn left on 157. For the Robbers' Roost/Glass House/Ice House areas, turn right on 158 after the Mt. Charleston Hotel. For the Hood/Mary Jane areas, stay on the 157 until Echo Road shoots off straight at a hairpin left turn. Mary Jane area parking off the Mary Jane road and Hood parking uphill at the Trail Canyon trailhead.
