When I'm climbing the rock of ages, and think I'm going to take a fall. I ask my Lord Jesus, please hold on tight. Oh Lord I don't want to Fall. Jesus is my belayer, His rope of love, Holds me bound from above. Jesus is my Belayer, He keeps me from hitting the ground. When you are climbing the rock of ages, and the going is rough and your holds are getting greasy. just remember, it isn't always easy. But Jesus will catch you if you fall. Jesus is my Belayer. His rope of life, Keeps me safe from all strife. Jesus is my Belayer He's Kept me from hitting the ground. I choose both! Many a days and evenings, sitting atop a rock or summit someplace, and looking at the beauty I see surrounding me, I thank the Lord for giving me the ability to be able to get to these places. I also thank him for giving us a chance, even tho a lot of us tend to keep him in the background, to see and live with a view from a much higher mountain. Cosmiccragsman

If I choose religion over climbing, and then free-climb the exterior wall of a wonderfully textured synagogue, am I being religious or a climber?

In reply to: I read through all the posts for this topic and have only one morsel of advice for all you "climbers" out there: The cobbler should not go beyond shoes Just what does this mean? Are you trying to say that someone needs to get some kind of formal religious education to discuss it? Maybe if you want to debate catholic dogma you could use some catholic education, but as to the discussion of religion itself all you really need to be is alive and have some basic language skills. climbing

In reply to: UM i might be wrong but atheism isn't a faith so you wouldnt need to give it up...... a-theism. you are not theistic.....it doesnt even mean you believe in no god, it is a title that god beleivers give to people who dont need to acknowledgesomething that doesnt exist....so it's not a fait but rather a lackof faith...... of course there are those atheists wholove to be in your face about it and for them it is just another religion to comfort you andmake you feel right... really? atheism isnt a faith? atheism: the BELIEF that there is no god. if you had to give up your belief that there is no god, where does that lead you? seems like pretty simple logic to me, but i am a christian, so go figure...

OK so lets say atheism is a faith, well then if one gives itupdoes that mean that you would then need to take on another faith......but then you have a faith again which you were not alowed to have according to these rules....so then you dont believe in god, ah ah but thats a faith that christians call atheism and you have to give it up...etc,etc,etc............ to say atheism is the BELIEF in no god is merely a relative point of view from someone who assumes that there is a god so therefore one would need some kind of leap of faith not to believe in something that so obviously(to this title giver) exists, but to the atheist there is no god therefore nothing to believe in in the first place...please dont use dictionary definitions when debating theology or philosophy it's like saying "well the bible says so, so thats the way it is" oh wait........ the people who make definitions have taken the most common meaning of a word for the current culture when the word was put in the dictionary, therefore when this word (atheism) was givin its definition it was most likelyfrom the point of view that there i in fact a god. no offense but that has to be one of the most rediculous arguments i have heard. thats like looking up love in the dictionary to find out what it really means or god....haha......but seriously a dictionary definition is no basis for an argument...... my point to an "atheist" there is no god and so nothing to believe in, the atheist only refers to herself as such because it is how a theistic person(christian, hindu, etc) can understand them by making a relation to themselves "I believe in god, this person does not". but to an atheist he i not an atheist , she just is a person not worried about weather there is a god or not because they have no belief in such things, the only reason they need talk about it is because theists feel the need to make them believe in god. ugh am i talking to much..... sorry by the way i'm not an atheist -Jason
