Leave in the evening so you drive the night while you are fresh. Arrive at your destination before dark. Got to bed and sleep in a little and you are good to go the next day.

I hate driving on the highway at night... Makes my little gurly-mahn eyes hurt and tear.

True, Good job Kelly.

Kind of hard to have the rabbits eat nonexistant veggies, so it is kind of a mute accomplishment.

Jealous!!!

I know that we couldn't really afford it, but I wish I lied to myself about that and got a set of Nomics.

So when are we meeting in QC or the Dacs so I can try out your new babies? How far are you from Quebec city (and places like Pont Rouge, etc)?

Google maps here i come.

445 miles from quebec.

How many hours? I think its like 9 for us. We're thinking of taking a long weekend and heading out there sometime this winter, especially if we can find some people to join us.

There's also ice in QC closer to the US border (I'd have to look it up in the guide book though).

8ish...
How about the daks? That's aboot five for me...
7 or 8 for me I think. But unless Nathan's immigration stuff goes through I'd have to find someone else to head there with (and no, there's no way I'd go with Brent).

After the first or second week of feb, i can take from weds evening to sunday one week...
(why not brent... you might be able to rend him from the grasp of the succubus)

(because I don't really trust him from a safety stand point, especially with ice climbing. He's a flake)
(why are you whispering? We can all hear you.) {doc didn't you see the pics???}
(pssst ---- Gri Gri)
(pssst ---- icy ropes)

Worthless without pictures!
We didn't take the camera out that day. That was the morning of the blizzard. Rebecca was a ways behind me anyway.
It's always best to bring a camera anyway.
that would have been an awesome shot

It wasn't the wilderness, it was a farmer's field. Besides, I had a set of car keys anyway.

Sounds like a good haul, I bet the roof rack will come in handy
I got another ghey sweater. We really could have used a box for the rack to haul stuff back.

perfect you will be able to wear it at next years xmas party.
At least it wasn't fruit cake. Funny story my friend told me tonight. He is at the inlaws and they take turns opening presents. His wife opens perfume, kids get some cool video games he gets a fruitcake. Round 2 more cool stuff for the family he gets another fruit cake. This happened 4 times. He comes out with 4 fruitcakes! Said it was like charlie brown on halloween with the rock!! I howled

I have a sick desire to try fruitcake.

Its actually pretty good. My aunt makes a good fruitcake, but they're pricey to make so she doesn't give too many away.

See the below post. Also got some more socks and a pair of baselayer pants.
got a DVD player (we had none) and a kitchenaid mixer with a ton of attachments. Today, we will be going to the store to buy a cabinet to provide the counter space for the mixer and storage space to expand on the available room in the kitchen.

The only climbing present I got at all was the training book by Dan Hague and another. The name is eluding me now, and I am too lazy to get up.

Opps, completely changing my post 'cause I was thinking of a different book. Self Coached Climber is pretty good, I just got to apply more of the stuff from there.

Becca is the one that really should get snowshoes. She's not very good at going through deep snow.

Problem is that there's not really enough snow out in S.Ontario to make snowshoes really worthwhile.

for some reason TONS of yuppies around here get them. There is never enough snow that they would be worthwhile.

You reminded me of another present I got. I got a subscription to rock and ice. I guess you could say that is climbing related. It is all good. I needed/wanted the other stuff more. I don't NEED the gear right now.

pfft, need. You have much to learn about climbing.

yea, she had a string of losers. One guy she dated graduated college and immediately started working at the go-kart track. He was still working there when she broke up with him.
So she was jealous that he had a cool job?
he was totally loving the job because he could stay and race the go-karts for hours every night with no one else on the track. I guess we all have different ideas of job benefits.

You can expect burning forearms and cold.

I'm not so sure I am going to like that. I dont mind burning forearms but I hate being cold
layers and waterproof will be important words for you.

You will enjoy it. Especially the first trip out. There is a lot of sitting around and chilling in the snow if you are top roping. (Same as top roping rock)
You must climb with n00bs.
indeed ...that one trip out with 2 sets of boots and one set of tools was with a relative noob. The one 'experienced' ice climber had led probably only about 10 routes. I couldn't see that trip as a multipitch trip...we were having to swap too many things.
You went out with Brent?

Somehow that seems very familiar.
I typed out the same story about 200 pages ago. You probably just forgot (how dare you).

Some people like fruit cake.

Nobody will recognize me with the new ghey sweater. That way I can work a different angle for stories.

Youre not gonna get more stories, even with the new ghey sweater...I have loyal friends.

How about waterboarding?

I got to drive a go-kart wearing drunk goggles. Did pretty well... Only hit two cones.
given a full minute with drunk goggles, you can get pretty used to the effects.

I like my Cannon digital, fairly small, decent zoom , I actually bring it when I'm out doing things. Biggest problem is not the zoom, but that it's nor very wide. But what I has is starting to get old. New point and shoot digi cams can be much better for wider images.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I know a little about cameras. I'm looking forward to seeing yours.
She can be the new photo girl.

I'll need someone to take pictures of me for the magazines.

*huge eye roll*
Oh come on, I'm sure you will do okay with that big fancy camera, if in fact you ever take it out climbing. When you are doing the photo shoots you will be to busy snapping photos to be climbing so it really won't be taking your camera out climbing. As the photog you will get to keep the money you get from the magazines. I get the publicity and sponsorships.

I would rather be climbing than taking photos. Nice try though

Or post here.

Or show up for your party that we came home early to put a stop to.

I should have. But then I read on here you were home. So I didn't have to do any of the above.

Heavy snow or freezing rain.

It snowed most of the way home. 2/3 of the way it was double track but we were still able to do about 100 for most of it.
I should start reporting all speeds in kph to my friends. They probably wouldn't be expecting it.
