Well I have been in denile for far too long about my being short, yet after looking at this forum I think I take the cake for shortest guy at a whopping 5'4 or 5'5, see still in denial, I just don't want to let that inch go. Seriously though I guess I am mostly upper body strength, have climbed 5.12 yet at the moment trying to get back to that point after a trip to Turkey. Im about 120 lbs and I guess what height I am missing I make up for in power and determination. I have run into one climb I can actually say my height is the reason I was stopped on it and the only person I know that has climbed this was a 6'4 friend who had to do a long dyno. Hieght is an excuse but that is all not really a limit.

There is a climb at the red that is supposodly impossible for five footers called "take that katie brown" because she is short right? well she sent something people thought couldn't be done, I think, that is what I have heard anyways by my tall friends trying to comfort me.

Overall, I don't think the size is as important as how you use what you got

Spoken like someone who is challenged in the "size"department.

See kafish's post above for another example: trying to get an extra inch out of things.

Cheers ajkBIGBOYclay :D

im 5' 7", 115 lbs, +3 ape index, 23" waist, and flexible. Im best on thin face climbs, and weird foot placements [heel hook by my head, etc]. I dont have enough muscle for long underhangs, big dynos, etc.

The little bitty type, wispy dancer build (except I have no rhythm, and I actually have a butt). I'm smaller (but not shorter) than all of you. Except, proportionally, this guy:

6'4" and 210lbs. I excell at easy climbs, the easier it is the better I do. My ape index is somewhere between Australopithecus Africanus and Australopithecus Afarensus. And my body type is somwhat of a cross between Barney Gumble and Mr. Smithers.

somewhere between Elle McPherson and Samy Davies Jr. I gained 3 lbs during my Greek trip. Suvlakis and Vaklavas are great for the belly!

We can tell from your profile pic (about yer butt, no idea about rhythm). And... thank-you.

Me - About 5'8 and 152lbs. Ape of +1.5". Bodyfat around 6-8%. Like it all - overhangs, vertical, slabs. Probably excel most on overhangs w/ powerful moves. But I still manage to suck at dynos.

5'11" 175-190lbs (<7% Body Fat) w/-1 AI

I usually have the summers and winters off to climb fulltime... When I do, I get down to around 175 lbs, thanx to the cigarettes and coffee diet  , like in the pic below when I had 4 months off to climb all summer.

5'10", plus 2" on the ape index. I weigh anywhere between 147 and 152, depending on what my diet has been like and how recently I've used the toilet.
I'm probably a bit more built then average, but completely ignore my legs in the gym, so while not like Hidetaka Suzuki's they are on teh smallish side.

6'0 even 170 lbs I live in mexico so I climb mostly with people shorter than I am. even though 6 foot isn't real tall I find that my build is great my only disadvantage is perhaps a lack of flexibility but that is my fault not my build

5' 7" tall, 5' 9.75" wingspan, 150 pounds even (clothed). Built pretty solid I suppose (waaaay bigger than most guys I see around at the gym) I like powerful moves, theres no dyno I won't try. Seem to have found my home on inside and outside corners, long flat faces get to me at about the 5.10d level. I guess the corners just allow for handholds where there are none and infintly many smeary feet respectivly.

6'2" tall, 200 lbs, 8% body fat...

Wake up Josh, you're dreaming.

5'-7", 1*cough* lbs, body fat is directly dependant on how much OT I'm working at the time. I used to body build years ago, so the remaining strength helps me on overhanging climbs. I love short, powerful moves, so I'm naturally drawn to bouldering.

I weigh 135-140. I'm about 5'9 with no special ape index. It's wierd because it seems like I can reach holds that are alot further then some other people are reaching, and these people are my height or a little taller and some have a longer ape index then me, maybe I have better tension or something.

I'm 6'2" 180 lbs. Long and skinny which sucked for gymnastics way back in high school, but now I'm almost 25 and just starting to put on a little more muscle mass. It seems my height is a great advantage, and the whole ex-gymnast thing helps my balance form and technique greatly.

5'10" and 180-190 lbs, some ppl say Im skinny some ppl say Im muscular, I dont really kow or care as long as I can climb, lol. I have a pretty good ape index +2, 6' wingspan. I can make those nice long reaches but have problems on those darn scrunchi moves and overhangs. I know that when I was younger and 40 lbs lighter I was climbing pretty hard. I have found that Im almost at the same level I was at that weight but I dont have the stamina for long routes. I can climb consistant .10's and do most v3-v4 problems onsight or redpoint. So does weight have anythign to do with climbing ability, well yes and no. We all know that perhaps the most improtant factor is a persons Mass to strength ratio; oh yeah dont forget about core strength. I have been improving mine for about the past year and hoping to break out of v4 to that v5 consistant range.

6ft 3, 165lbs +4in ape index

because i am so tall and long i can get long moves with relative ease static, but when it comes to sustained hard overhangs i just dont have the strength pull through. Because i dont have the super human strength, i rely heavily on technique and my reach, but it really dosent seem to be slowing me down. after less than half a year of steady climbing i am hitting V5 and 11b/c
