Description:

Located 50 feet from the road on the Lower Right Side of the Bowling Alley. From Mtn Project: "Located between Splitting Hares and Centennial, is this entertaining 9 bolt sport climb. The 12a grade is a tad soft, but not completely out of the question, especially on the onsight. The redpoint grade is closer to 11c/d. Centennial seemed to have a harder crux move, but A Tall Cool One is more continuous, and a more enjoyable route." 5.12a in Rolofson's Guide Book.

4 out of 5 stars lots of style

When in a pinch, find a micro toe edge... that will do it for you. Lots of styles of climbing from dihedrals to thin face to nice cracks. Very enjoyable climb.

Rolofson has it at 12a.

26JULY2009: Hang dogged the first lead run. Worked out the clips. Rested, ran it again... hit both crux sections fine, then reached out for a final hold at the chains and popped off(!!!). After the shock and disappointment of my first 12a send, I retried it a 3rd time but popped at the 12a crux due to fatigue, reclimbed the section just fine and finished up, but still a hangdog. :(

2009/08/01: REDPOINT! After 7 runs I finally put this all together!
