Description:

P1: (5.6) Find the "little corner" about 100yds. after you turn left at the gully. Very distinctive left facing shallow crack/dihedral, quite "Yosemite-ish". Climb it to a ledge, then belay here, or go a little higher to another ledge. P2: (5.6) Continue up discontinuous cracks in the larger dihedral, to a wild step left over a gap, continue up and belay where convenient, slinging rhodos and placing good gear. P3: (5.6) Keep climbing even higher in the huge corner to where you can see a big ledge on the left with a sizable pine tree. Belay here, or if you have a 60m, combine this pitch with P4: (5.5) Continue on up the corner on easier ground to the top. Great starter route to get you acclimated to Shortoff. Classic! This route can be done in two pitches, combine 1 and 2 and combine 3 and 4.

5 out of 5 stars lovely

Nice long pitches even without combining. We ended up with three b/c we weren't entirely sure if we stopped at the right spot when ending P2. The P3 belay was on a mossy ledge right of the big tree although it took me a while to find good belay gear. Should have kept going. One memorable slabby bit down low and P2 had some nice vertical sections, although look out for loose rock. Fantastic views. Easy way to be sure this is the correct corner: look for the up curving finger crack for Julia (10a) from the ground mirroring this route out left.

5 out of 5 stars fast and fun.

can make it in two pitches with a 79m rope easy, a little harder with a 60m.
