4 out of 5 stars GREAT CLIMB for CAMELBACK

Really good and well protected sustained 5.8 climbing. This was my first multipitch climb and it was a great one to start with. The belay ledge above the first pitch is big and the bolts are bomber. Looks like lots of the loose stuff has been cleaned off even though we just had a ton of rain.

To find start look for orange bolt before wall wraps into back canyon where Ghastly Rubberfat and Spice Box are located.

4 out of 5 stars Cool Warm Up

Solid rock with great hands and feet. Well protected and lots of little ledges to rest on so you pump slowly for warming up. Crux is near the top bolt - mantle works well but is not necessary. Don't make it harder on yourself and stay to the right more at the crux.
I love Pond rock!!!

3 out of 5 stars COOL RANDOM BOULDER

This was one of my very first outdoor climbs and I had a lot of fun. It's easy and relaxing and you can play around on it a little bit. I took a swinger into a bush and learned to trust the rope a bit.
Anyway, easy boulder, low angle, well protected, sport, blah blah blah.

5 out of 5 stars GOOD VIEWS OF SEDONA

I liked this climb a lot although I only got through the first pitch. We were delayed and a lot went wrong on the way there making us believe we weren't meant to ascend that day.
We got to the top of the first pitch and rapped down. The first pitch is VERY thin - friction climbing only. Definately has gotten harder since the route was put up. It was pretty well protected but it's also a little low angle so cheese graters are possible.
We hope to go back soon and do the whole thing!

4 out of 5 stars MY SECOND SLAB CLIMB

Much better to just top rope from Quaker Oats. Found a scorpion in the only really positive spot on the whole climb though. Interesting. Fun route.

4 out of 5 stars MY FIRST SLAB CLIMB

Well slab climbing is interesting. Wish I had paid more attention in Physics when they talked about friction.

Anyway, not as scary following but would suck to lead at this point. Hardy approach too.

2 out of 5 stars SHARP ROCK

Climbed to top off rock and signed Register. Nice view. Kind of sharp rock here and there and was not expecting this to be as hard as it was since my guide said 5.3. Definately harder but still cool. I like stemming. WARNING: Chain on rappel looks old. Do not rappel off of chain or off of single rapide put on chain.

3 out of 5 stars GOOD TIMES

Really fun route for Camelback. Less crumbly than others nearby. Challenging for lower level climbers but still fun for higher level climbers.

This climb does not top out - it has a hanging belay. I've been told you cannot top rope it but I think you can hike around to the top (like to Rain of Terror, etc.) and rappel a short ways down to the anchor. If your nuttier than I am you could probably walk there and anchor from above but I wont.

3 out of 5 stars NICE CHALLENGE FOR ME

Well I mostly hang dogged it on top rope but I plan to go back and do better so I'll throw this in for now.

Different options for start. Some easy moves with a couple challenging sections. All of this gets MUCH harder if you're under 5 foot 10 inches (which I am by a lot). On lead you might want to use one piece of trad gear in between the second and third bolt as they are kind of far apart (but that particular move isn't too rough).

Good route. Walk off.

3 out of 5 stars WAY FUN CAMELBACK ROUTE

I liked Rain of Terror a lot. Pretty crumbly but that's all of Camelback. Really loose stuff to kill your partner with when you top out. Can be top roped if necessary with an anchor off the Palo Verdes (that's a tree).

Good route all around with a challenging crux. Cold in December though!
