Sundance Buttress
About Sundance Buttress:
Sundance Buttress is the huge buttress on the far west end of Lumpy Ridge. Between the hike and the length of the routes(4 pitches or longer), most routes are an all day affair. Hike up the trail past the Book and the Pear, and keep an eye out for a climbers trail marked by a cairn once you are under the buttress. The approach takes about an hour. Descents are down gullys either off the left or right side, depending on which side your route tops out on. A 4th class scramble up and over the summit reaches the gullys, which are unpleasant. |
