Description:

From the ring anchors at the start of Old Smokey, climb up and slightly left following an obvious dike shooting up through the slab. The first two bolts are a bit run out and ground fall potential is possible if one were to fall while clipping the bolts. Thankfully the climbing is easy and holds are big through this section. The rest of the route follows a gradually diminishing dike up a steep slab with great moves and spicy bolt spacing, but not too spicy for mortals.

Descent Options:

Rappel the route with two 60m ropes.

4 out of 5 stars Not gay

But I'm thankful for dikes that create perfect lines of ascent. Bold lead. Deck potential at first 2 bolts. Glad I was second here.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect slab

Polished holds dispersed through a sea of high friction slab and a dike that brings it all together. When one sees this dike shooting up through the steep slab, it's hard to not want to immediately jump on this thing. Great moves, positive holds, well protected cruxes, a perfect journey through a sea of granite.
