Description:

3 pitches of steep flake and dike climbing. You can use an optional 3.5 cam on the first pitch, or run it out on easy climbing. The second pitch is the best, pass the small roof directly and climb into the dihedral until you are aobut half way up, exit the dihedral to the left and follow the flakes and crack to bushy ledge. Pitch 3 is a cake walk, take the 5.8 exit and use the #4 Camalot here, or head right and exit on 5.4 ground.

5 out of 5 stars Bears Reach

Seriously hollow flakes near P2 belay. Spooky to hear them shift and vibrate while someone climbs above them. P2 really should be a bolted anchor.

5 out of 5 stars Flake-tastic!

Just great fun. Climbed it with Lazlo. HAd a blast, though some of the flakes were a wee bit hollow. The section moving between the cracks on the little dyke holds were some of the most fun moves I've done.

5 out of 5 stars Bear's Reach

I thought that a lot of the protection seemed to be behind flakes that might blow out if you actually fell on it. My partner disagreed though, and thought the pro I placed was fine. Regardless, it was a great route.

5 out of 5 stars Ascent note

2nd time up. The "reach" wasn't too bad if you commit to your funky right foot placement and deadpoint it. I'm 5'8. Also, spread out your pro on the first belay. There was an accident when a belay failed with pro all on the middle flake.
