Description:

(A.k.a. Two Pines and a Stump - one of the pines was felled in a Nov. 2002 ice storm). Nice easy 3 pitch climb, has a 5.6 variation at the finish(a crack with a pin). Try the "dangler" 5.9 variation at the start of the third pitch.

5 out of 5 stars exciting climb. classic Gunks.

this was my second time on three pines, but my first as a lead climber. climbed it with matt on a beautiful weekday with no one else around (which was good bc both of us were beginning leaders and took awhile on the route) Matt led the first two pitches as one long pitch and then i led the final pitch. i sort of by accident did the 5.6 variation on this last pitch which was awesome- but definitely got my heart pumping as i was on a bit of a runout as well. then at the very top i somehow missed the low angle slab leading to the chains and instead went straight up a smooth rock face to the top- felt like at least 5.7 move!!- gosh- all this made for my most challenging, but totally awesome lead pitch yet.

4 out of 5 stars Great climb, didnt like the traverse at the GT ledge.

Fun climb, linked the first two pitches together. Rapping from the top went through some bushes, were several bees at the rap station.
